Sometimes you wonder how time flies.. Before you know it, we are already looking at another Jawa Day event on the 8th of July at St Joseph's Indian High School Grounds in Bangalore.

To keep it brief, this year being our 11th year in Bangalore, we want to showcase a collection of all models of Jawa and Yezdi bikes that rolled out of the Ideal Jawa Factory in Mysore.

We are also inviting Adil Jal Darukhanawala, a veteran automotive journalist and editor, Somender Singh, veteran Yezdi racer and inventor of patented grooving technology for engines along with veteran Chennai racers Sohail Sarooshi, Ashok Krishnan and Ravi Thirumalai to be part of this year's event. You wouldn't want to miss hearing their stories for sure.

So, come over with your prized Jawa / Yezdi bikes at 10.30am and if you do not own one, just walk in to the event to appreciate some of the best kept jewels in India. You will also get to buy a few unique merchandize at the event which are limited in quantity.

BJYMC attempts Guinness Record during 15th International Jawa Day

On the occasion of 15^th International Jawa Day, members of Bangalore Jawa Yezdi Motorcyle Club attempt to set a Guinness Record. A total of 418 Yezdi brand of bikes and their proud owners participated in a rally around Bangalore on 9^th July starting from St Joseph’s Indian High School Grounds to qualify for the ‘Largest Parade of Yezdi Bikes’.

The 15^th International Jawa Day celebrations witnessed large participation from both the young and old and saw a total of over 550 bikes across both the Jawa, CZ and Yezdi brands. These brands have been out of production since 1996 after the Ideal Jawa factory shut shop in Mysore.

To comply with the rules of Guinness, all 418 participating Yezdi bikes were strictly scrutinized, photographed and numbered by marshals. All eligible participants went on a 5 km parade around Kanteerva Stadium and Chinnaswamy Stadium to qualify for the record. The entire event was covered live to adhere to the rules.

Once the riders assembled back at the venue, a formal function was held to recognize all the senior riders from yesteryears along with mechanics and members of various clubs. This year, riders from Mangalore, Mysore, Mumbai, Pune, Nagercoil and various parts of Kerala rode all the way to Bangalore to participate in the Guinness attempt. Back in 2015, BJYMC entered the Limca Book of Records for the ‘Largest Gathering of out-of-production Jawa Yezdi bikes in India’ with over 537 Jawa and Yezdi Bikes.

13th International Jawa Day celebrations on 12th July 2015

This year's celebration is going to be bigger than ever as Bangalore Jawa Yezdi Motorcycle Club (BJYMC) along with Jawa Nanna Jeeva (JNJ) will together host this mega carnival.

Feast yourself with over 500 rare and beautifully kept Jawas, Yezdi Classics, Roadkings, 350 Twins along with some rare, imported CZs and mopeds. Get to meet senior employees of the Ideal Jawa factory, talk to mechanics from your locality and visit stalls to pick up valuable spares for your bikes. This is expected to be the largest gathering of Jawa and Yezdi's on this side of the globe.

We also have a surprise this year with one lucky person walking away as a proud owner of a 1990 model Yezdi Roadking. Visit the registration desk at the venue on 12th to know more. Entry is free for all.

The Real Face

Yes, we all have different faces. We put each one on according to the situation or circumstance. But I must say, when I am riding my Yezdi Roadking, it’s the real face that’s on me. The face that’s relaxed, leaving behind the struggles of life, the face that loves the wind, the rain and everything that mother nature has provided us.

My obsession for this breed of bike started with my dad. I was a nine year old kid when he used to make me sit in front on his Roadking and take me to various places around the city. I used to wait every evening for that sound ‘dung dung drrrr’, an indication that my dad is coming home from office. This would mean that I would get to go for a ride on the bike in our locality. I used to love it. When no one was around, I used to touch the bike, sit on it and fantasize riding it.

One evening, when dad got home, I didn’t hear the sound of his bike!!! I run outside to search for the bike but it wasn’t there. A financial crunch had made him sell the bike. I cried that night. My dad silently whispered into my ears - Don’t worry son, it’s my duty to see that you are educated first, you will one day start earning and buy the bike of your dreams. These lines somehow stayed with me.

To my bad luck, the Ideal Jawa factory closed down in 1996. But, since it was reliable and easy to maintain bike, it somehow remained in the market well beyond the factory closure.

The day finally came when I got my job and started earning. Having saved up some money, I went to the infamous JC road in Bangalore to find my dream Roadking. After asking a couple of shops, I finally landed up in a small shop where the dealer had a Roadking. He made a few calls and after couple of minutes, I heard the familiar sound “dung dung drrr.” I came running out of the shop to see the bike but it was badly bruised. The engine was making weird noises, the gears were not shifting properly etc.

This might sound crazy, but it looked like it was talking to me, asking me to take it home. I decided to go with my gut feeI and took it straight to a mechanic. It stayed with the mechie for a week undergoing essential repairs and was finally was ready to hit the streets in style.

This is to those who are not familiar with the Yezdi’s. The Roadking is an all-metal bike. Other than the indicators, there’s no plastic or fibreglass anywhere in the body. If today’s tin, plastic, fiberglass & coat hanger assembled bikes can be termed as “Definitely Male”, then the Yezdi Roadking is “Definitely The Beast”! It commands attention. Very reliable, low on maintenance and a super handler. When u sit on this bike and open up the throttle, your animal instincts take over and you are transformed.

Coming back to my story, I called dad and told him that I had brought a bike. I did not reveal anything about the bike but asked him to wait outside the house. I rode my RK and stopped right in front of him, got down and handed him the keys. He was in a state of shock and couldn’t believe his own eyes. He walked around the bike touching it like a little kid. He saw me in the eye and I could see him being nostalgic. I could see tears roll down his eyes that day and reminded me of those lines he had whispered into my ears years ago.

A few years later, I got introduced to a group called Bangalore Jawa Yezdi Motorcycle Club. I felt great to know there are likeminded people around. The brotherhood and the passion for these bikes is simply amazing in the club. I have been to many rides with the brotherhood and each ride is a story of its own. Everyone in this brotherhood are of different professions but, we ride together with one passion - Riding. Yes, we all have different faces and we put them on according to the situation and circumstance. But I must say, when I am riding my Roadking, it’s the real face that’s on me.

12th International Jawa Yezdi Day celebrations - 13th July 2014

Come Sunday, the 13^th of July, you will witness a spectacle that happens only once in a year - the largest gathering of Jawa’s and Yezdi’s in Bangalore. Manufactured by the Ideal Jawa Company in Mysore until 1996, these 250 cc bikes known for their distinct beats from its twin exhaust will come back alive on the road to celebrate the 12^th International Jawa Yezdi Day.

The International Jawa Yezdi Day is an annual celebration held on the second Sunday of every July across the globe to celebrate the power and legacy of these 175, 250 & 350cc bikes. These bikes were manufactured and sold in India from the year 1960 up to 1996.

This year, BJYMC is organizing its annual meet starting 8am at Hombegowda School Grounds, 10th Cross, Wilson Garden, Bangalore (Opp Brand Factory, Hosur Rd) followed by a ride to Rasta Café on Mysore Road at 10.30am which is about 40kms from the city. The event will act as a platform for biking enthusiasts and collectors to interact with some of the oldest Jawa riders and employees of the Ideal Jawa factory.

Today, there are over 600+ Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles on the streets of Bangalore which have been completely restored by passionate mechanics. These include some rare imported Jawa Peraks, CZetas and 350 Jawa Twins.

These bikes made a mark in Indian Automotive history as an exotic piece of machinery and were known for their reliability and low maintenance costs. They were last manufactured at the Ideal Jawa factory in Mysore before the company went bankrupt in 1996. But passionate Jawa Yezdi lovers have rallied round to revive the former glory of the few surviving bikes and the International Jawa Yezdi Day provides them the perfect platform.

11th International Jawa Yezdi Day enthralls bike lovers in Bangalore

Only recently did we realise that a whole year just went past at 100kmph and we were back to the month of July'13. So with very little time to spare, the core committe at BJYMC swung into action to plan the 11th International Jawa Yezdi Day to be held on the 14th of July 2013.

Unlike last year (where the event was held at a private farm house on the outskirts), we decided that this year's event will be hosted in the city for the benefit of those bikers who are not active participants of our biking club.

With the help of a few members, we zeroed in on Hombegowda School Grounds in Wilson Garden. A bunch of enthusiastic volunteers supported the club in planning the logistics, branding and the program for the day. The idea was simple: Give them a place to gather and they will come.... Come they did and in hoards.

On last count, we saw over 340 Jawa and Yezdi bikes with a few rare ones as usual. Modded 350 Twins, Jawa Cafe Racer, Jawa Jet (50cc), Yezdi Colt (50cc), Perak (250cc) and CZ (125cc).

By 10am, the entire ground was filled with bikes and fans admiring some rare and immaculately maintained machines, talking to other bike owners and clicking loads of pictures. You can view some of these pictures on our Facebook Group or try this link.

As a formality, some local dignitaries had to be honoured for their support and not to mention one rider in his late 50's who rode in a 1957 Perak all the way from Pune. Mr Ashok Naidu who works for Tata Motors and a veteran biker and rallyist readily accepted our offer to be part of our annual celebrations and decided to ride over 800 kms to be with us. The just goes to show that, both, the Jawa rider and his bike are meant to last :p

A ceremonial flag off around 11.30am marked the end of this year's meet and as our t-shirt say 'We don't honk, we roar', the bikers and their machines roared away back to their homes in formations of two.

10th International Jawa Yezdi Day celebrations

And we are back again for the 5th consecutive time and this time its a little different.

Yes, having grown in numbers over the years, we wanted to bring in the 10th year celebrations on an unusual note.

So we decided to ride out of the city and have our own get-together on the 8th of July 2012. This simple little affair will involve meeting up in the city and riding in small groups towards Tumkur. Our location is Shiva's Farm which is about 2 kms from Shivaganga town.

All interested Jawa and Yezdi bike owners are requested to register immediately with either of the following members. Registration fee is Rs 220/- for a bike with rider and Rs 370/- for rider and pillion.

9th International Jawa Yezdi Day on 10th July, 2011

Yes, the biggest get-together of Jawa and Yezdi bikes is back for the 4th consecutive year in Bangalore. So start getting your bikes polished to show off those classic beauties at the annual event.

The last two years have seen tremendous response from the community and we have recorded over 350 - 400 bikes at the annual event and this year we expect to cross the 400 mark. So we need all your support to spread the word and get people to come out with their bikes on the 10th of July. The venue this year is Tasker Town Grounds, Behind Shivajinagar Bus Stand. The entrance is at the circle near Hotel Harsha on Meenakshi Kovil Street.

Special t-shirts and stickers are being printed like every year but we request you to block your t-shirts in advance as there will be limited quantities. The cost of the t-shirts will be shared shortly.

Similar to last year, we will be inviting all the mechanics who will be honoured in front of all. So be there to cheer their hard work and for keeping all our bikes in running condition.

Largest Get Together of Jawa Yezdi bikes in India on 12th July

Yes, the 7th International Jawa Yezdi Day celebrations in Bangalore saw the largest get together of Jawa, Yezdi and CZ bikes in the country.
Organised for the second consecutive year by the Bangalore Jawa Yezdi Motorcyle Club, the event saw over 160 Roadkings, 70 Jawas and 60 Yezdi Classics with about 30 special category bikes like the 350cc twin Jawa's & Yezdis or the rare CZs.
By 7am the Kanteerva Stadium ground transformed itself into the '80s and '90s with all these rare beauties lining up according to their category. Each one was better than the other as their owners proudly showed them off to the other participants and visitors.

Cameras came out of the pockets and people went mad trying to get the right shot and angle to capture these unique bikes that had lined up. Media crew were not far behind as they covered the entire range and interviewed a few owners and organizers.
By 8.15am the registration counter had already run out of special Jawa Day T-shirts and stickers but requests kept pouring in. Soon the crowd was overwhelming and it was time to ride out to our destination Channapatna Coffee Day.

Ace Rallyist Chinnappa did the honor of flagging off these bikes which rode past MG & Brigade rd before connecting the Town Hall - Mysore Rd flyover. From here it was non stop ride to the destination which was about 75kms from the city.

By 11am most of the bikes had reached the coffee day on mysore rd and the riders went around admiring each others machines over a cup of hot coffee and some masala dosas. After another round of photographs, the riders returned back to Bangalore by 2pm with precious memories to last a lifetime.

7th International Jawa Yezdi Day Celebrations coming up at Sri Kanteerva Indoor Stadium

Its finally here.. the day that we all have been looking forward to and getting our bikes ready to show off. It is the 7th International Jawa-Yezdi Day celebrations and for the second year in a row, the Bangalore Jawa Yezdi Motorcycle Club is organising a get together for all Jawa Yezdi bike owners on the 12th of July. The venue for this get together is Sri Kanteerva Indoor Stadium which is in the heart of the city.

Request you all to spread the word among your friends who own these rare beauties to start polising them and get them in proper running condition before this big day. After a brief get together we will be riding out to Channapatna Coffee Day which is a good 75kms from the city.

Assembly & registration will be from 7.00 am to 8.15am and a formal flag off will happen at 8.30am sharp. The route will be similar to that of last year - Kanteerva Indoor Stadium - Kasturba Rd - MG Rd - Brigade Rd - Richmond Circle Flyover – Mission Rd - JC Rd –Town Hall – City Market Fly over – Mysore Road – Channapatna Coffee Day & Back

Another request to all the owners of such bikes is to have all the bike papers in place including emission clearance certificate and proper helmet for the rider.

Special Jawa Day T-shirts and bike stickers will be available for sale on or before the ride day. So keep a look out for the registration desk at the venue.
